I started Pinnacle Massage & Sports Therapy to share my knowledge in postural corrections and help individuals find balance in their busy lives, so they don't have to live in pain or discomfort as a result of soft tissue injuries / postural imbalances. My formal training was received at the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Therapy & Massage in Charlotte, North Carolina where I graduated and obtained my practitioners license back in 2006. In 2007, I moved back to the PNW, where I have been practicing massage full time for over 10 years in the Seattle area.
My style is a mixture of massage modalities which incorporates: NMT (neuromuscular therapy), DT (deep tissue), TPT (trigger point therapy), P & S (pin & stretch) with a dash of Swedish. I also incorporate assisted stretching into a session as needed. My method tends to be more of a therapeutic approach and treatment based while still providing a relaxing element.
I have worked with a wide range of athletes including runners, cyclists, kick boxers, rugby players, soccer players, body builders, triathletes, roller derby & inline speed skaters, as well as desk jockeys. My role is to promote your healing and speed up recovery, so you can get back to doing what you love.
To get the maximum benefit from any bodywork, I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to be hydrated. If you are dehydrated, you will want to start hydrating 3 days prior to a session in order to allow water to move into the tissue vs trying to drink lots of water the morning of your session. Starting a session already well hydrated will make your tissue more pliable and flexible which will improve the efficacy of the massage, and reduce the chances of a painful massage. Hydration also keeps your body clear of free radicals which can make you feel run down and sluggish. When forced to perform, dehydrated tissue does not have efficient response times which can result in increasing your chances for injuries such as pulls, strains and tears.
To extend the results of a session, I will show you 1 to 2 stretches to perform at home for self-care. I like to empower you with this knowledge so you have an arsenal of recovery options at your disposal. These tools teach you how to proactively address issues, and not just chase pain.
